Creating an island doesn’t have to be something you do in one session, nor does it have to be anything that you spend a lot of time on: it’s your island, it should be right for you!
There are many ways to create and explore an island:

a drawing, a collage or a map,
a piece of descriptive writing, a letter or a poem,
an audio response, playlist or a voice note,
an online scrapbook or social post,
a national anthem and a flag,
a collection of animal tracks or bird song,
a thinking exercise with no physical outcome,
a conversation with a friend,
or maybe something else.
If you’re going to draw, paint or collage your island then you’ll need an outline.
Our favourite suggestions to get started are:
“loosely hold onto the top of the pencil and let your hand/arm go auto pilot mode or pretend you’re bored while drawing the map :D”
“take the shape of your favourite park or your town and turn that into your island”
…or create your island outline using rice!
